ABOUT ME

Cat Cardenas is a Latina journalist, photographer, and Texas Monthly writer-at-large based in Austin, Texas. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Remezcla, among others. At Texas Monthly, she also writes the State of Texas newsletter which goes out to over 64,000 subscribers Monday through Friday.
Born and raised in San Antonio, Cat is a bilingual, second-generation Mexican-American, and a diehard Spurs fan. She attended the University of Texas and was one of four students selected to report on the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Her love of writing and travel has also taken her to Costa Rica and 4,000 miles away to work on an archaeological dig in Madrid.
She is passionate about reporting on immigration, women's rights and the Latinx community, and hopes to be a published author one day.
